THE SEVENTY WEEKS OF DANIEL!

BEGINNING WITH THE LAST RULERSHIP!

In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans; In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

The prophet Daniel actually read the prophet Jeremiah! So we should do no less!

THE NATION OF ISRAEL RECEIVED MANY WARNINGS FROM THE LORD.

BEFORE JEHOVAH CAME IN THE FLESH HE SENT JEREMIAH TO WARN ISRAEL TOO!

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations SHALL SERVE THE KING OF BABYLON SEVENTY YEARS.

And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and THAT NATION, saith the Lord , for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

For MANY NATIONS and GREAT KINGS SHALL SERVE THEMSELVES OF THEM ALSO: and I WILL RECOMPENCE THEM ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS, and according to the works of their own hands.

BABYLON WAS NORTH OF JERUSALEM, AND NEBUCHADREZZAR'S

JOSIAH BEFORE JEHOIAKIM WAS A RIGHTEOUS KING!

JEHOIAKIM was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that WHICH WAS EVIL in the sight of the Lord his God.

Against him CAME UP NEBUCHADNEZZAR KING OF BABYLON, and BOUND HIM IN FETTERS, to CARRY HIM TO BABYLON.

Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon. Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

2 Kings 24:8 says he was only 18yrs old.

Jehoiachin was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was EVIL in the sight of the Lord.

And when the year was expired,

king NEBUCHADNEZZAR SENT, and BROUGHT HIM TO BABYLON,

with the goodly vessels of the house of the Lord , and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

Then it was NEBUCHADNEZZAR who the LORD used to set up ZEDEKIAH.

Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And he did that which was EVIL IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD HIS GOD, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the Lord .

The lord sent them!

Therefore he brought upon them the KING OF THE CHALDEANS, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he GAVE THEM ALL INTO HIS HAND.

And them that had escaped from the sword CARRIED HE AWAY TO BABYLON; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: To FULFIL THE WORD OF THE LORD BY THE MOUTH OF JEREMIAH, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.

70 YEARS!

DANIEL SAW IT ALL PLUS MORE YEARS, IN FACT (72) YEARS. HE KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG! SO, HE PRAYED TO THE GOD OF ISRAEL FOR CLARITY.

And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God;

Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man GABRIEL, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

And he INFORMED ME, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee SKILL AND UNDERSTANDING.

At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

SEVENTY WEEKS are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to FINISH THE TRANSGRESSION, and to MAKE AN END OF SINS, and to MAKE RECONCILIATION FOR INIQUITY, and to BRING IN EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS, and to SEAL UP THE VISION AND PROPHECY, and to ANOINT THE MOST HOLY.

The crucifixion of Jesus about AD 30 did not end Jewish resistance to the Roman occupation. In 70, when the country was again in a state of revolt, Jerusalem, the holy city became the core of the resistance to the Romans. Titus the son of Emperor Vespasian, proceeded to lay siege to Jerusalem. The city fell and the inhabitants were enslaved in their thousands and dispersed throughout the Mediterranean world.
